Infrastructure & Governmental Affairs "IGA":
Chair: Henri Boulet, LA 1 Coalition
Co-Chair: Simone Maloz, Restore or Retreat
One of the most constructive aspects of this committee are the "Power Meetings," which are roundtable discussions held yearly with elected officials where federal, state and local issues that affect industry are discussed.
The success of projects needed in our region is vital to the growth of Business and Industry. The committee is designed to review and discuss issues and projects, then make recommendations to the SCIA Board, our view and or direction, we should pursue. We normally back issues and projects by resolutions. South Louisiana faces many challenges that stand to shape our economic future, as well as threaten the environment and the livelihood of the people of South Louisiana. Our ability to overcome these challenges with sound policy will determine our success.
SCIA actively supports I-49, North South Corridor Evacuation Route, Morganza to Gulf Project, Houma Navigation Canal Deepening, Houma Navigation Canal Lock, LA 1 Coalition, Port Development, coastal issues, levee protection, as well as local projects that will enhance the productivity of industry and quality of life for the region. Financial contributions have been made to I-49, LA 1, Morganza Action Coalition, Terrebonne Navigation Coalition and Restore or Retreat to assist with efforts in obtaining funding for these important projects. Through this committee, SCIA is involved in coastal restoration projects, interacting with the US Corps of Engineers and other entities when appropriate.
Nicol Blanchard, Fletcher Technical Community College
The Workforce Development committee is designed to address
the workforce needs of the bayou region. The mission is to develop, cultivate, and
communicate career opportunities and career paths to students, parents, and
educators in the region. We strive to enhance the region’s economic stability and
prosperity by focusing on the training needs to assure a qualified workforce.
Industrial Committee on Education "ICE":
Chair: Willard Robison, Seacor Marine
"ICE" is designed to identify and share resources, information, knowledge and experiences that assist companies in maintaining efficient and effective Health, Safety, Security and Environment processes which in turn protect employees, property, the environment and the communities in which we operate. It monitors the labor climate of the region, insurance requirements, maintains wage and labor supply information, as well as promotes better understanding of the laws that affect our ability to hire, maintain, and terminate employees.
"ICE" continually reviews related issues to disseminate to members. They provide quality workshops on health, OSHA regulations, safety and environment to member company employees.
Chair: Shane Thibodeaux, Bow 2 Stern

This committee is responsible for making sure SCIA has the best crawfish boil in town! SCIA is host to about 700 people each year, an event that serves as an excellent opportunity to network. It is usually held the Thursday after Easter. The crawfish boil is a member event and is not open to the general public. However, extra tickets can be purchased by members for additional guests. Information and tickets are available through the SCIA office.
Chair: Keli Dantin, Shamrock Management
Co-Chair: Robbie Naquin, Capital One Bank
It is the purpose of the golf tournament committee to provide a quality fundraising event that will unite our members and to provide financial assistance for projects that have been approved by the SCIA Board of Directors. The annual golf tournament is held on the first Monday in October of each year at Sugarland Country Club in Mathews, LA.
The Golf Tournament is one of our two SCIA fundraising events. Money raised from these events go to: SCIA Scholarships for graduating high school seniors, Region 3 Technical College & Fletcher scholarships, NSU Maritime Management Program, Morganza Action Coalition, Terrebonne Navigation Coalition, Restore or Retreat, LA 1, Workforce Development, recognition of 'Teachers of the Year' from Terrebonne & Lafourche Parishes, and memorials.
We are proud to be one of the few organizations in the region that provide such an array of funding to our area communities and its people! We believe that giving back to the community is part of our responsibility as an organization and individuals.
Chair: Jerry Ledet, Synergy Bank
